McAndrews Law Offices : Special Education Lawyer in Pennsylvania : Education Law Attorney : PA
McAndrews Law Offices, P.C.

Welcome...

The McAndrews Law Offices have served the needs of clients with complex legal issues since 1983. Our lawyers maintain a national reputation in Special Education Law and Special Needs Trusts, and also serve our clientele in the more typical legal fields of Estate Planning, Personal Injury, Criminal Defense, Real Estate, and Adoption.

We limit our practice to these in order to serve the unique needs of our clients in these areas of concentration. For this reason, we do not handle such matters as divorce, child custody, bankruptcy, patent, trademark, commercial litigation and similar areas which have also become highly specialized. We provide a high level of professional and skilled representation to our clients in our concentrated areas of practice.

Our Commitment to Service

Over the past 25 years, McAndrews Law Offices have developed a reputation for providing services to person in need across the Delaware Valley.  Our work on behalf of individuals with disabilities frequently affords us with opportunities to obtain appropriate educational programs and access to public services which families were unable to obtain on their own. In many cases, we have provided pro bono services or representation under which this office took substantial risk in accepting legal matters for individuals who were unable to pay legal fees. To the extent reasonably possible, McAndrews Law Offices assists individuals with unique personal and financial needs to obtain an enhanced quality of life.

Our office also provides dozens of informational seminars at no charge every year to interested members of the public.

Finally as part of our 25th Anniversary Celebration, we are initiating a “Charity of the Season”. Under this program, McAndrews Law Offices will provide a financial contribution from the law firm to a charity selected by its staff. In addition to the contribution, employees will be encouraged to collect their spare change for several months to provide to the charity, and the firm will offer to provide a pro bono project for the charitable institution and/or individuals served by the charity.

Our second “Charity of the Season” for Spring 2008 is the Race for Reading Kid’s Triathlon, which will raise funds to benefit Reach Out and Read (“ROR”). ROR is a non-profit organization that promotes early literacy by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud in pediatric exam rooms across the nation. The ROR program provides the tools to help promote children's developmental skills and later school success. Reading to children early in their development significantly impacts their acquisition of language, reading and vocabulary development. It is critical for children who have reading disabilities and language needs. Exposure to reading in early childhood also promotes the love of reading and learning throughout the child’s lifetime. A child who has been read to for at least twenty minutes per day will have been exposed to about 1.8 million words per year, or 9 million words by the age of five. However, a child who has been read to less than one minute per day will be exposed to a meager 8,000 words per year, or 40,000 words by age five. Many children who do not have access to reading fall into the latter category. As early as kindergarten, the impact of this disparity is significant.

The Race for Reading Kid’s Triathlon is open to children ages 6 through 14 and will occur at Eastern University’s campus on August 2, 2008. For more information about the event, or to receive a registration form, please call (610) 667-7819.
